CNC Manufacturing Lead

Build More Than Parts. Build the Future of Our Tooling Department.

Exothermic Molding is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist and Programmer ready to take the next step in their career.

This isn't a traditional CNC machining position. It's an opportunity to help build and lead the next generation of our in-house tooling capabilities while developing into a leader in mold design, tooling development, and advanced manufacturing.

Founded in 1972, Exothermic Molding is a pioneer in Reaction Injection Molding (RIM), serving the medical, laboratory, industrial, and defense markets. As we continue to invest in our manufacturing capabilities, we're looking for someone who wants to grow with us and help shape the future of our machining and tooling operations.

What You'll Do

  • Lead CNC machining operations for tooling and production components
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC equipment
  • Design and manufacture molds, tooling, and production fixtures
  • Collaborate with engineering to develop manufacturable tooling solutions
  • Develop machining processes, work instructions, and best practices
  • Train and mentor CNC operators
  • Improve machining efficiency, tooling utilization, and lead times
  • Recommend new equipment, tooling, and process improvements
  • Support mold maintenance, refurbishment, and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of CNC machining and programming experience
  • Strong CAD/CAM experience (Fusion 360, Mastercam, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC equipment
  • Strong understanding of tooling, machining, fixtures, tolerances, and manufacturing methods
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T
  • A passion for continuous improvement and solving manufacturing challenges
  • Interest in learning mold design and expanding into tooling leadership

Preferred Experience

  • Moldmaking or injection mold experience
  • Reverse engineering and laser scanning
  • Hurco CNC machines
  • Additive manufacturing
  • Plastics manufacturing
  • Lean manufacturing principles

Why Exothermic?

This is a rare opportunity to join a growing manufacturer where you'll have a direct impact on the future of our tooling department. Rather than performing the same machining tasks every day, you'll help develop new molds, improve manufacturing processes, influence equipment investments, and grow into a technical leadership role.

If you're looking for a position where your ideas matter, your skills continue to grow, and your work directly influences the success of the business, we'd love to hear from you.

Ready to build the future with us? Apply today.

Qualified candidates should send a completed application and a resume to careers@exothermic.com.
