Shop Helper


Opportunity
The shop helper is a non-exempt (hourly) position that reports to the Finishing Team Leader. It is an entry level position with the opportunity to learn new skills and make more money. There are also opportunities for voluntary overtime. This is the perfect position for a motivated person with a good attitude who is results oriented, quality conscious, and reliable. We offer a competitive wage $12+/hour (commensurate with experience), paid holidays/vacation, and a great benefit package, including medical and a 401k retirement savings plan.

Responsibilities

To achieve throughput and quality goals by effectively using documentation, equipment, and labor. The shop helper executes a daily production plan created by the supervisor based on the master open order schedule. It involves reading and following the documents that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with the quality standards. It should be noted that employees are given responsibility to read process documents and interpret whether all required operations have been performed per the defined process prior to performing their operation.

  • Process parts according to company quality standards
  • Report suggestions for improvements back to Foreman or Department Leader.

Qualifications & Skills
  • High School/GED Diploma preferred
  • 1-2 years of experience with small hand or power tools preferred
  • Detail oriented when completing assigned tasks while meeting and/or surpassing
    production requirements
  • Physically able and willing to stand for 75% of shift to complete assigned sanding tasks

Sander

Responsibilities

To achieve throughput and quality goals by effectively using documentation, equipment, labor, and facilities devoted to the efficient sanding of molded products in preparation for painting. The sander executes a daily production plan created by the supervisor based on the master open order schedule. It involves reading and following the documents that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with the quality standards. It should be noted that employees are given responsibility to read process documents and interpret whether all required operations have been performed per the defined process prior to performing their operation.

Duties

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The following areas of involvement describe basic duties of a Sander:

  • Operation of hand operated random orbital sanding machine(s).
    Sanding is performed on molded products in such a way as to not change the desired part configuration while improving the surface quality for painting. A Sander must also utilize sandpaper, files, and “Sanding Pad” by hand to finish surfaces not reachable with a machine.
  • Operation of Routing Machines and Router Table.
  • Operation of Wet blasting Machine.
  • Report suggestions for improvements back to Sanding Supervisor, Shop Foreman, or Management including processing methods, sequences, and equipment recommendations.
  • Keep summary log of daily production on worksheet. All employees are required to be aware of and record labor input and materials consumed required to perform job function. A Sander’s daily production should meet or exceed the minimum standard of 6 parts/hour.
  • Maintain equipment within department, including maintenance of sanding machines, sanding tables and filter elements, plus general work place orderliness and cleanup.
  • Comply with safety programs and standards.
  • Utilize process documents for all jobs moving through department as necessary.
  • Perform various inspections per company processing documents and “Visual Samples” to determine compliance of processing to customer requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • 1-2 years of experience preferable
  • Experience using small hand or power tools a plus
  • Detail oriented when completing assigned tasks required
  • Physically able and willing to stand for 75% of shift to complete assigned sanding tasks

Painter

Responsibilities

To achieve throughput and quality goals by effectively using documentation, equipment, and labor. The painter executes a daily production plan created by the supervisor based on the master open order schedule. It involves reading and following the documents that describe the operations required, while assuring that all the parts comply with the quality standards. It should be noted that employees are given responsibility to read process documents and interpret whether all required operations have been performed per the defined process prior to performing their operation.

  • Mixing Paints, Setting-up spray painting equipment including pressure pots, regulators, and spray guns.
  • Process parts according to company quality standards
  • Maintain equipment within department
  • Report suggestions for improvements back to Foreman or Department Leader.

Qualifications & Skills
  • High School/GED Diploma preferred
  • 1+ years of experience painting and/or paint mixing
  • Autobody shop or manufacturing experience a plus
  • Detail oriented when completing assigned tasks while meeting and/or surpassing production requirements
  • Physically able and willing to stand for 75% of shift to complete assigned sanding tasks
